I recently rented a property through Castle Estates, and I couldn’t be more impressed with the service I received. Renting can be a daunting experience but from the very beginning, the team were professional, efficient, and incredibly helpful. They listened carefully to what I was looking for, provided a great selection of properties, and arranged viewings at times that suited my schedule. The entire process—from the initial enquiry to signing the tenancy agreement—was seamless. Communication was clear and timely throughout, and every question I had was answered with patience and clarity. Special thanks to Mr Hayward, who went above and beyond to ensure everything was in place for a smooth move-in. It’s rare to find an agency that combines expertise with genuine care for their clients, but Castle Estates absolutely nailed it. I highly recommend them to anyone looking to rent. A truly five-star experience!

Had been with two bigger named estate agents prior to using Castle. The two bigger companies failed to sell our property and actually secured only 3 viewings between the two of them over 6 months. Joe from Castle secured 2 viewings within weeks and the second viewing bought our property . Joe has been excellent throughout and very professional, he always returned phone calls and e mails quickly. I would highly recommend Joe from Castle estate agents, he has been very accommodating throughout and is a very nice chap.

Great service from Joe at Castle Estates, from producing a report on sales in the area, pricing the property for sale, photo's and brochure, and handling all enquiries viewings and offers. All went very smoothly.

*** Edit: (See attached picture for proof) Just to reiterate that following Castle Estates response to this review: I was not evicted or served notice and was forced to leave due to the threat of violence, having not been informed the perpetrator had already been removed from the property. I was not formally cautioned either by Castle Estates or by the police (the other tenant was evicted and arrested and I recieved an apology from the police for their complacency). There were no challenges on my side apart from having no control over when I slept, could work from home, leave the house or study due to constant noise, room rattling music, bullying, threats and threatening letters from my upstairs neighbour. No one listened when I said that I felt in fear of my life and could not function at all, was losing my job and opportunity to study until I had a catastrophic breakdown. Just to put into perspective how bad this situation was, it went on for years, literally years, during lockdown when there was no chance of moving and began shortly before I took up a Master's degree (again, not able to move at that point). There was nothing complicated about it, I was just ignored until I was nearly killed and had a nervous breakdown as a result. *** LANDLORDS AND TENANTS BOTH SHOULD TAKE NOTE - Read for details of property damage below. Also read reviews from other landlords who were lied to. Absolutely shocking treatment by this company. I was harrassed for years during lockdown and received threatening letters from another tenant. Nothing was done until they attempted to kick in my door. I lost my career and health due to the stress. I was told to "get some earmuffs that builders wear for drilling" when I explained that the noise, from music, door slamming and stamping literally shook the walls of the building. I was studying for a Master's degree at the time and as a result of the disruption was not able to retrain in the career I had spent years preparing to enter. No action was taken until the police arrested the neighbour and my concerns were brushed off until that point. There were also serious issues with black mold in the property that were dismissed as "cosmetic" even though it is evidenced to be a neurotoxin that can cause a wide range of health issues. I also had them try to enter my property with keys unannounced when they had not arranged, thinking I would not be home to catch them. They have no emergency, weekend out of hours number such that when the upstairs plumbing broke and flooded the property, there was no way to turn the water off until the next Monday and no one could help (not even the police or fire department - I tried). If you have an out of hours emergency, you will be stranded. This could potentially cause a building to become unsafe, with expensive works needed. No checks were carried out to ensure the integrity of the ceiling following this incident and other less serious (but persistent) issues with plumbing upstairs that was never properly repaired. They told lie upon lie when challenged and their refusal to take action over threats, bullying and disrepair have devasted my life. I still have symptoms of PTSD and anxiety as a result. Micheal Haywood is the worst of them and you can check other 1* reviews for more information about why. These are all true of my experience. Contact other agencies immediately if you have issues with them or other tenants as they will give excuses and delay as long as they can. They literally do not care if you live or die. If you are a landlord, contact your tenants directly every so often. If you are a tenant, you are legally entitled to be given your landlord’s U.K. contact details within one month (Castle tried to tell me that mine had moved to Australia (!!) but in fact he lived in Lincoln. Not that it matters, as all landlords are required by law to have a separate U.K. point of contact) or you can pay a small fee and do a property ownership search via Gov.uk land registry.
